The Sci-Fi Podcast – S2E9: EVERYONE IS TRIGGERED!

Welcome to The SciFi Podcast, a wretched hive of scum and villainy a bi-weekly podcast focused on in-depth discussions of all things science fiction. The SciFi Podcast features four hosts—Mattroid, Solo, Nick and Station!—and frequent guests. Each episode we look at a science fiction theme or franchise and take the discussion where no show has gone before.

Since the beginning of time, probably, man has argued whether things are broadly considered too popular or not popular enough, which in 2019 equates to something being overrated or underrated. In few cases is this more evident than in movies, particularly genre movies, like sci-fi, horror or fantasy.

In this episode, your hosts discuss their respective choices for most overrated and most underrated sci-fi movies. Will you agree with their choices? Violently disagree? Will you, too, be triggered? Let us know.

Not unlike Mattroid and Sputnik in the first episode, William and Station! explore the fascinating world of alien life on earth, specifically referencing and reviewing Bob Lazar and the documentary, “Bob Lazar: Area 51 & Flying Saucers“, among many other things. Is this the first episode of “The Parenting Podcast”? Only time will tell.

Jonas and Mattroid discuss the newly released X-Men film Dark Phoenix, with franchise fan Jonas enjoying it as much as to be expected and Mattroid delivering some surprising opinions and thoughts on the movie. The other co-hosts were unable to join but will be voicing their opinions in the next episode.

With this being the final film in the Fox-run franchise, how does it hold up against the rest? Will Marvel take over from here? When? What are you hoping they’ll keep? Change? So many questions about a series with incredibly imaginative characters and stories rooted in social issues and sci-fi wonder. We’ll just have to wait and see.

WE ARE BACK. That’s right. After months off, yours at The Sci-Fi Podcast have opened their cryochambers and have begun to thaw. With the first 50 episodes (and numerous unnumbered episodes to boot) released, it was time to end season one and head into season two.

MARVEL AVENGERS: ENDGAME
Live from the van! Mattroid, Station!, William Solo Jr. and guest Sharon discuss their reactions to the movie, immediately after departing the theater. Nick saw the movie an hour earlier in a different city and therefore was unable to join the crew, but always one to please he had his own reaction (and hilarious story!) sent over before the end of the night, and it’s been added on to the beginning of this episode.

How did this movie compare to it’s predecessors? Does Finn matter? WHO IS REY?! All these things and more are discussed in a lengthy and fantastic review and dissection of the film, by Mattroid, Solo, and friend of the podcast Nick Ricci. Station! was forced to sit this one out, once again caring for a baby, but her thoughts on TLJ will be heard in future episodes.
