Welcome to The SciFi Podcast, a wretched hive of scum and villainy issuing a bi-weekly podcast focused on in-depth discussions of all things science fiction. The SciFi Podcast features four hosts—Mattroid, Nick, Solo and Station!—and frequent guests. Each episode we look at a science fiction theme or franchise and take the discussion where no show has gone before.
In this episode the hosts discuss “Bill and Ted Face the Music” as well as welcoming Mattroid back to the crew. Discussion of Nick’s pants, William’s “Loser Reviews”, Station’s gripes and Mattroid’s return from the dead fill in the gaps between takes on what the hosts make of Bill S. Preston Esq. and Ted Theodore Logan’s most triumphant appearance on screen in nearly three decades.

This is the final episode with Mattroid. We share stories, we talk about The Rise of Skywalker, and we say goodbye to Matt.
Nick took this selfie the night we recorded this episode. He fell asleep and started snoring at the end… poor guy.

WE ARE BACK. That’s right. After months off, yours at The Sci-Fi Podcast have opened their cryochambers and have begun to thaw. With the first 50 episodes (and numerous unnumbered episodes to boot) released, it was time to end season one and head into season two. This is episode five.
2019 is shaping up to be an incredible year for television and movies. We’ve experienced the end of the Marvel Infinity Saga, we’ll see the undoubtedly emotional close to the Skywalker Saga, Alien turned 40 and much, much more. In this episode we discuss the return of two storied franchises: Star Trek and Terminator.
Seventeen years after the final film in the Star Trek: The Next Generation series, Jean-Luc Picard returns in Star Trek: Picard, on CBS All Access. At this time we have very little to go on, but a newly released trailer has ignited the flames of deep space nerdness and you better believe your hosts are all about it.
Terminator made a fairly milquetoast comeback in 2015 with Terminator: Genisys. Arnie made his return as the titular character but sadly that wasn’t enough for fans to rally for, and the franchise appeared to be doomed. But! James Cameron wasn’t about to let that happen. Later this year we’ll welcome the return of Sarah Connor and the Terminator, and the buzz is certainly buzzing.

Disney Plus. X-Men – Phoenix. Random verbal nonsense. Based on a season-one segment called “While You Were In the Cryochamber”, where the hosts discuss recent life events, Cryochamber episodes aim to emulate that segment while giving ample time to each host so they can discuss topics of their respective choosing. In Cryochamber 1, Nick talks Disney Plus, the highly-anticipated streaming service; it’s awesome to hear Nick’s excitement on this. Station! exposes her inner Extreme Nerd and goes full Comic Book Guy on X-Men and The Phoenix, in preparation for the upcoming movie. Mattroid basically plays referee and offers virtually nothing outside of evaluating actor Doug Jones in five words.

SLC FanX 2019. In this second part of the FanX coverage, Mattroid and the Sci-Fi Podcast crew for a weekend of ultimate nerdtasticness. William eats a microphone, Nick recognizes Return of the Jedi hiding in plain sight, Station bails three times but comes back to make some keen observations. Also, they talk about the new Star Wars trailer and other things of much less importance.

Not dissimilar to Comic Con or FanX, Gaming Con embraces nerds, geeks, and particularly gamers of all kinds; throw in vendor booths, panels, and competitive gaming (including collegiate e-sports!).
