  1. Some random thoughts on the show:

    – I feel like I’ve either said this with every episode or at least thought this, but again, kudos for your continual coverage of Star Wars in a variety of different and interesting ways.

    – I’m beginning to suspect that Station! purposely shows up late so that she can make a grand entrance.

    – In trying to think of something comparable to everyone knowing the spoiler from Empire Strikes Back, even if they haven’t seen it, the only thing I came up with was the killer in Psycho. Maybe the infamous Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince “___ killed ___”?

    – For me, I feel like one of the most important parts of Star Wars legacy is making sci-fi and the geek culture a little more mainstream. Star Wars has become so big that it’s in everyone’s life. It’s really difficult to imagine what sci-fi would be like today without the original Star Wars ever being made.

    • Excellent thoughts.

Station’s entrances might be more deliberate than I originally thought. You might be onto something!

Harry Potter? It’s big time, sure, but I’ve seen a couple of the movies and STILL no nothing of it. I’d say not a chance does it compare with Empire’s reveal.

And your last paragraph? SPOT. ON.

      • – One I’ve been going back and forth on is would Jason Voorhees being the killer in the Friday the 13th series be a spoiler? In the first movie, it is a mystery as to who the killer is. While the killer isn’t technically Jason in that first movie, from that point on it is. Yet, everyone knows Jason is the killer in the series.

That’s just grasping at straws though. Vader being revealed as Luke’s father is THE classic example of a movie twist.

        – I do wonder what the future of Star Trek had Star Wars never been made. I would have to think that at some point, another series would have been created, but would it have been started by the mid 80’s? Would there have been any movies?

        • Without Star Wars, Trek slides quietly into the black. I believe this completely, despite them being very different properties.

And Friday the 13th, while I see where you’re going, is too genre dependent I think. Star Wars has no borders. None. Every kind of person has seen them. It’s an anomaly and beyond rare feat. Empire’s reveal is unparalleled, and all other really well known ones come in distant second.

  2. M. Morgan Coleman “Kashyyyk” Detail and “Night Stories” Detail from Star Wars: Visions.

Michael Coleman “In the Forest – Hunting Party” Detail and Artist Bios from Star Wars: Visions.

    • I am a huge fan of the work the Colemans did for this series. Nick’s “To Be a Jedi” and Morgan’s “Night Stories” are particularly evocative for me. And, of course, I like anything with Wookies or Ewoks as well.

  3. A couple of other favorites from the Star Wars: Visions book.

    “Leia” by Gary Kelley

“Hoth Snow Battle” Detail by Jason Askew

    “Yobana” Detail by Jeremy Lipking

“Dawn of Maul” by Will Wilson

There are really so many great pieces. It’s about 50/50 for me. I absolutely lvd half of them. The other half, I could do without.
