  1. Here is my “Top 3 Guilty Pleasures” list, that is more fitting for this podcast and to Mattroid’s and Station’s lists:

    Three Guilty Pleasures:
    1. Superman 3 (1983)
    2. Starship Troopers (1997)
    3. Pacific Rim (2013)

    • Starship Troopers!!

Haha, that’s even more out of place on a guilty pleasures list than “The Fifth Element” in my mind! Such a great movie.

Guilty pleasures lists are pretty tough though. I find it hard classing any movie that I enjoy as a guilty pleasure so I’d have to base it on what other people in general might perceive as being a less serious or lower quality film.

      • Yeah, I was going to say, I think a lot of sci-fi fans would put STARSHIP TROOPERS and maybe even PACIFIC RIM on their favorites lists. William either has extremely refined tastes or his inner-circle is full of people who are very hard on science fiction.

        • I think all three of those are great. Yeah, Superman 3 is TERRIBLE, so I see how it fits, but I admittedly love it. Filmed in part at Lake Powell, just a few hours south of here, where I spent lots and lots of summers.

But Starship Troopers and Pacific Rim? That’s legit, proud-to-say-I-love-it Sci-Fi, Solo!

        • Solo must be a man of no shame, so he has to fake it.

Or, maybe he just doesn’t like bad movies. I feel like guilty pleasures straddle that line of bad movies that are still entertaining.

  3. My Top 3 Guilty Pleasures:

    1. Flight of the Navigator
    2. Battle Beyond the Stars
    3. A.I. Artificial Intelligence

Honorble mentions: Outland, Explorers, The Last Star Fighter

  4. Guilty Pleasures ( I don’t have guilty pleasures, but for the sake of having a list)

    1. Equilibrium
    2. Bicentennial Man
    3. They Live
    4. Galaxy Quest
    5. The Core

    • Galaxy Quest and especially They Live are sci-fi classics, as far as I’m concerned. The rest on your list are awful, so I think they’re great picks for guilty pleasures. Especially Bicentennial Man and The Core. Good golly!

  5. My Top (3) Guilty Pleasures:
    – BACK TO THE FUTURE (1985)
    – ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (1981)
    – STARGATE (1994)
    – TRON: LEGACY (2010)
    – OBLIVION (2013)

I know, I know, that’s^ five… but I truly “love” TRON: LEGACY and OBLIVION, and feel utterly guilty about it.

  6. GUILTY PLEASURES

    1. Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure
    2. Flight of the Navigator
    3. Ewok Adventure / The Battle For Endor

Honorable mentions: Space Camp, Back to the Future III, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, Escape From New York

*slightly modified from my Episode 01 posting*

    • Over a year later, I don’t think I’d put Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure on here anymore. Station has made me a believer. I also just showed Back to the Future III to my son, recently, and it is a legitimately good Western-Comedy. One of the best. I guess I’d bump Space Camp up to my list to make it:

      1. Flight of the Navigator
      2. Ewok Adventure / The Battle For Endor
      3. Space Camp

With Escape From New York as my guilty pleasure.
